ALEXIS SANCHEZ played for Chile last night as his move to Manchester City from Arsenal collapsed.

Arsenal were reported to have accepted an offer of £60million for the 28-year-old on deadline day, but called the deal off after they were informed of Thomas Lemar's decision to remain at Monaco.

Sanchez was set to be back at the club's training ground on Thursday after a disappointing global break, with Chile losing two World Cup qualifiers and the player's desired move to City falling through in the final hours of the transfer window.

Mourinho said: "If people say that because I move from club to club, they're right, but I don't think I am [a short-term manager]".

One player who is still working his way back to full fitness is Jack Wilshere and Wenger provided an update on the midfielder as he looks to rebuild his Arsenal career once again. He's strong mentally, and will hopefully back to his best soon.

The Frenchman has had a busy few weeks following the closure of the transfer market which saw Arsenal hold onto Alexis Sanchez, despite the Chilean's desire to join Manchester City on deadline day. You can't have a player preparing for a vital football game and still be on the phone at 4 o'clock: "'Do I go or not?' or 'How much is it?', 'Where do I go?'".

Overnight the fire sparked a fire across the river in Washington and prompted mandatory evacuations of multiple communities. Officials said firefighters have kept the fire's growth moderate Tuesday after it exploded over Monday night.

"No matter how well you work on the football pitch you can not make a player go from €15m to €150m", Wenger said.

"Many things happen in the last second which I regret".

"I always have problems understanding what a legend is and what a legend isn't", he said when asked about high-profile former Arsenal players speaking out.

Sanchez has been ruled out with an abdominal strain for the first two league games of the season but played in the defeat at Liverpool and could start against Bournemouth. We listen to Wenger every Year saying you don't need to spend to win the title?

The former Real Madrid man, whose Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season, hit back with a near-700-word Facebook post, and Wenger has now also defended the player. It's very hard to set a time.
