Monaco question Mbappe PSG loan deal

Arsene Wenger believes the January transfer window should be scrapped as a concept

Kylian Mbappe sees his move to Paris Saint-Germain as an opportunity to quench his thirst for success.

The French global was booed by his old fans while he sat on the bench during Ligue 1 champions Monaco's 6-1 thrashing of Marseille, their last game before Mbappe left for title rivals PSG.

The 18-year-old has joined the Ligue 1 side from the current champions on a season-long loan that will be made permanent next summer for a fee of €180 million (Dh788.7m).

"When I heard their opinions regarding why he wants to move to Paris, I accepted them and we began hard and tiresome negotiations with PSG", he said.

"It's been put on standby, but I'll have to get back on the case", said Mbappe, whose mother drove him to training at Monaco.

"My price is anecdotal - it will not weigh me down".

"He is an additional advantage", he said. "It is extraordinary to play with him (Neymar)".

"It was important for me not to leave France after just six months at the highest level".

"Of course, I still want to learn but I want to win".

"We are very confident in our position and in our recruitment", Al-Khelaifi told reporters at the official unveiling Mbappe. It's not our problem if other clubs aren't happy.

Al-Khelaifi said: "We respect all of Federation Internationale de Football Association and Uefa's rules".

I always thought: "I want to be there, I want to be one of those big players who is trying to give people fun out of the game".

"We (Monaco) could not understand to the very end whether this deal was really possible as UEFA had questions to PSG about their compliance with financial fair-play", Vasilyev told Russian news agency TASS.
