Frankfurt defuses massive WWII bomb after evacuating 60000

The British bomb found in central Frankfurt weighs 1.8 tonnes

Premature babies and intensive care patients had to be evacuated along with everyone else from two hospitals and rescue workers helped about 500 elderly people leave residences and care homes.

In Germany, defused the bomb during world war II.

According to The Independent, the western city of Koblenz was also forced to evacuate residents after a 500-kilogram USA bomb was discovered.

During the war some 1.5 million tons worth of Allied bombs were dropped on Germany, seeing cities destroyed and around 600,000 people killed. Officials ordered residents to evacuate homes within a 1.5-kilometer (nearly a mile) radius of the site in Germany's financial capital.

Authorities began evacuating hospitals and care homes Saturday, as well as the German federal reserve and a major local broadcaster.

A smaller evacuation took place on Saturday in Koblenz, about 110 km west of Frankfurt, while experts disposed of a World War II that had been found during the construction of a new kindergarten.

More than 2,000 tonnes of live bombs and munitions are found each year in Germany, even under buildings.

Justice Dept: No evidence of Trump Tower wiretapping
The President is not well, and facts offered up by the DOJ back up the idea that Donald Trump might be insane. We have already addressed it", said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The fire brigade tweeted: "Transport for those who can't leave on their own is on its way into the evacuation zone".

Fire and police chiefs in the city had warned that an uncontrolled explosion of the HC 4000 bomb would be powerful enough to flatten an entire street.

Police will ring every doorbell and use helicopters with heat-sensing cameras to make sure nobody is left behind before they start defusing the bomb on Sunday.

About 11.30 am local time police tweeted that the evacuation zone had been divided into 15 sectors, 12 of which had been emptied.

Police said the size of the bomb made extensive evacuation measures a necessary precaution. Bombs are also being discovered in more built-up, harder-to-reach areas. Under Adolf Hitler, it contained an armaments hub, aircraft plant, railway junction and a nuclear research facility - so it was a key target for the Allies.

Take a big sigh of relief and wipe that bead of sweat off your brow: The bomb was successfully defused, but still needs to be removed from the area with utmost caution, according to Deutsche Welle.
