Brock Osweiler reaches deal with Denver Broncos

Cleveland Browns: Brock Osweiler's odd time in Cleveland

And the Denver Broncos are clearly desperate at quarterback. The team will also place linebacker Shane Ray (wrist) on the injured reserve list on Sunday, which will create space for another player (they now need a backup nose tackle).

Osweiler was traded to the Cleveland Browns after just one year with the Texans.

Osweiler had the best season of his career filling in for Peyton Manning in 2015, but has struggled outside of Denver.

A day after being cut by the Cleveland Browns, Osweiler will head back to the Broncos, who drafted the Arizona State product 57th overall in 2012.

French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia also moved on with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Romania's Sorana Cirstea . Open title and her chance of obtaining a No. 1 ranking erased by unseeded Kurumi Nara of Japan 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Osweiler signed a four-year, $72m contract with the Houston Texans prior to the 2016 season, but was traded to Cleveland with a draft pick in March.

But Osweiler could be a fit for the Broncos' needs now.

That earned him the contract, but he tossed 15 touchdowns against 16 interceptions a year ago as Houston's primary starter, failing to give the team a dynamic quarterback to pair with its impressive defense. In both 2016 and 2017, Lynch was beaten out for the starting QB job by former seventh-round pick Trevor Siemian. Thing went awry for Osweiler from there, but Elway thinks that they can help put him back together again.

A big reason why Osweiler ended up in Houston is because the Broncos didn't want to match the Texans' offer because they thought Houston was overpaying. But Denver's options at No. 2 might soon be much more interesting. The Browns will pay the difference between his original $16 million salary and his contract with Denver. If the Broncos were to sign him to a deal worth $775,000, then the Browns would be on the hook for $15,225,000 this season and the Broncos would be on the hook for the rest.
