After revealing his generous donation to Watt's fundraising effort through YouCaring, he adds, "The journey to rebuilding is going to be a long one, so anything you can give is greatly appreciated". In a situation like this, you want to start raising the money as quickly as you can because I know that these recovery efforts are going to be so massive.

A number of sports teams, leagues and players-most notably Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt-have donated money, launched fundraisers or both.

Watt's YouCaring drive, which Strunk's donation is to, has been attracting major attention with donations from celebrities, National Football League fans and caring individuals alike.

"The insane thing is we're still doing our day jobs", Watt said.

You can still donate to Watt's charity if you'd like by following this link.

"At this time, the priority of our organization is getting our players, coaches and staff back home to be reunited with their families, many of whom have been evacuated from their homes and are now sheltered", the team said in a statement to ESPN.

He has dealt with hip problems off and on for years, but not to the point where it forced him off the tour for an extended absence.

Within two hours, people helped him reach his initial $200,000 goal.

Watt raised the goal to $1 million, then $2 million, by Tuesday that goal was $5 million.

"Unlike other crowdfunding platforms, we have always been free to use, ensuring more money goes to the people who need it most", said YouCaring's CMO, Maly Ly.

The Texans returned to Houston on Wednesday from Dallas-Fort Worth, where players and personnel had been since Sunday because of the storm.

It's awesome how the worst brings out the best in most people.

"The Houston Texans have made the decision to travel back to Houston after local authorities have now found a safe route for the team to drive home today".

"Can't speak enough to the goodness in humanity, to everybody helping out", Watt said Wednesday night.
