Ex-Valve writer may have revealed Half-Life 2: Episode 3's storyline

An edited version of the synopsis on Pastebin-which is now the only place to read it given the unwashed massed of the Internet have taken down Laidlaw's blog-has already replaced and the names places ready for reading. Former Valve writer, Marc Laidlaw, made a lengthy post on his site called "Epistle 3", which features many hallmarks and story elements familiar to Half-Life fans. Of course, the Half-Life loving internet masses have wasted little time in dissecting the letter, and in one particular Reddit thread, users bring forth all sorts of possibilities and theories about the letter itself. With Episode 2 almost a decade old at this point, developer Valve Corporation has shown no signs that the alleged next installment will ever be released to wrap up the cliff-hangered story. The text is a modified version of a part of the original Half-Life 2: Episode 3 plot. This was the case until eighteen months ago, when I experienced a critical change in my circumstances, and was redeposited on these shores. This last has in particular worked on Half Life 1, Half-Life 2 and the two suites episodic of this second opus. The only game I can think of in the past ten years that created a new genre of games and had an everlasting impact on the industry is Minecraft, and that was a fluke.

After his website crashed due to an influx of readers, Laidlaw said: "I guess fanfic is popular, even [as] a gender-swapped snapshot of a dream I had many years ago". A post on Laidlaw's blog, titled "Epistle 3", showed up earlier today and appears to describe in detail the plot for what would have been the long awaited Half-Life 3.

"Half-Life" creator Valve has largely moved on from the type of narrative-based, single-player game that "Half-Life" was.

Everything points to this being a thinly-veiled act of rebellion against Half-Life's creators never getting the chance to finish the story they were telling.

Syria Urges UN to Stop Civilian Killings by US-led Coalition
The coalition earlier this month acknowledged the deaths of 624 civilians in its attacks in Syria and Iraq since 2014. Rupert Jones, deputy commander of the coalition's task force against ISIS, told reporters Wednesday.

Oh, and somebody please make sure they've got a copy of that, because, you know, Valve probably has some pretty fierce lawyers.

Laidlaw has changed up a few of the names, presumably to protect himself for Valve's legal team.

The chances of another Half-Life game ever being developed are likely next to zero, especially considering the pressure Valve would be under when developing it - producing anything other than one of the greatest games of all time would be considered a huge disappointment.
