Constituent Assembly Starts Work, Opposition Stages Terror Attack

Venezuela's high court removes fifth opposition mayor

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Thursday he wanted to hold a private conversation with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, APA reports quoting Reuters.

Senators John Cornyn of Texas, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, and Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker of MS said in the letter, which was seen by Reuters, that unilaterally blocking oil exports could harm the US economy and Venezuelan people.

"If he's so interested in Venezuela, here I am. Mister Donald Trump, here is my hand", he said. Any transactions with the government of Venezuela or any of the South American country's state agencies will in future require prior permission from the bank, according to an internal Credit Suisse memorandum seen by "Reuters" on Thursday.

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro has offered his hand to Donald Trump while expressing interest in direct talks after a new wave of U.S. sanctions imposed on the troubled Latin American nation.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stated that a new constitution would help resolve the nation's political standoff.

Venezuela is facing mounting global criticism over a crackdown on opponents and moves to consolidate power, including the selection of the all-powerful assembly controlled by Mr Maduro.

More than 125 people have died in violence since the opposition began a sustained wave of protests in April.

Though the two countries are longtime allies, some in the Maduro opposition now say Russian Federation is exploiting Venezuela's problems to gain permanent leverage over the country.

Kenya's Elections At A Glance
Another top NASA official James Orengo denounced the counting process as "an entire charade, this is a disaster". By the evening, after multiple delays, the country's elections commission still had not made any announcements.

Polls suggest the opposition would win most of the states, if the elections are fair, replicating its landslide 2015 victory in taking control of the National Assembly.

"As head of state، I subordinate myself to the powers of this Constituent Assembly،" the Venezuelan president said.

The United States hit Maduro with sanctions on July 31, the day after the election of the loyalist Constituent Assembly that Washington said was "illegitimate" and in service of a "dictator".

In a speech at the newly-created National Constituent Assembly on Thursday، Maduro said، "We will never cede to foreign powers،" adding that Trump had to end his "imperialist aggression" toward Venezuela.

It allowed him to replace the opposition-held National Assembly with an entirely new legislature filled with Maduro supporters.

Experts say individual sanctions have had little or no impact on Maduro's policies and that broader oil-sector and financial sanctions may be the only way to make the Venezuelan government feel economic pain.
