The media today: HuffPost stands by its reporter after Fox host sues

Yashar Ali is being sued over stories about sexual harassment via text message

Fox News host Eric Bolling, who is under investigation for allegedly sending graphic, unsolicited pictures to female colleagues, is suing the journalist who first reported the allegations last week for $50 million.

Bolling filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Yashar Ali, the HuffPost contributing writer who wrote the original article, the Associated Press reports. Bolling's attorneys, courtesy of the law firm representing President Trump, called Ali's report an "intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff's conduct and character".

Ali on Twitter revealed he'd received a summons from Bolling - but that he stands by his reporting, and will also stand by his 14 sources and protect their names.

As Ali's court notice began circulating Wednesday, Bolling also tweeted: "I will continue to fight against these false smear attacks!"

Fox News, suffering under the weight of several previous sexual harassment claims, settlements and scandals, suspended Bolling over the weekend, pending the outcome of an investigation.

In the same article, Ali mentioned that Bolling had criticized NY congressman Anthony Weiner for his own involvement in a "sexting" controversy.

Taylor Swift groping case
This case highlights the importance of sexual assault and it's a great experience for girls to see that it will not be tolerated. Fans lined up outside the courtroom holding tokens, hoping to catch a glimpse of the star during the nine-day trial.

"H$3 e is coming after me personally", Ali tweeted.

Ali's reporting relied exclusively on anonymous sources.

Fox News said that an investigation 'is now underway, ' with attorney Paul Weiss leading the proceedings. HuffPost, which was not named in the lawsuit, issued a statement saying, "Ali is a careful and meticulous reporter".

"We stand by his reporting", HuffPost Editor-in-Chief Lydia Polgreen tweeted.

"We have no hesitation about standing by him financially in this case". The other two, she claims, were former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly and current consultant Woody Fraser. On the following day, he was suspended from the network and a former Fox guest wrote a lengthy Facebook post chronicling her unsettling encounters with Bolling. In addition to hosting "The Fox News Specialists", he anchors the business analysis program "Cashin' In". The Los Angeles Times, citing anonymous sources, reported that the unidentified woman told Fox's outside lawyers that she was coerced into a sexual relationship with him, then blackballed from the network when she tried to end it. Payne has denied wrongdoing. "THANK YOU FOR CONTINUED SUPPORT", Bolling wrote on Twitter.
