Consumer Reports removes recommendation for Microsoft's Surface

Consumer Reports pulled its Microsoft Surface tablet and laptop recommendations

The non-profit consumer publication surveyed 90K laptop and tablet owners and found that 25% of respondents with Surface products would experience "problems by the end of the second year of ownership".

"Microsoft Surface Pro is designed and built with performance and reliability in mind", Microsoft told CNBC.

Consumer Reports said the study was based on data from 90,741 tablets and laptops that subscribers bought new between 2014 and the beginning of 2017.

Consumer Reports is withdrawing its recommendation for four Microsoft laptops and tablets after a survey showed that a quarter of them pose problems for their owners after only two years. That prediction is based on surveying the company's own subscribers who own current Microsoft hardware, and collating details on any issues they might have encountered.

More than this, Consumer Reports goes on to say that it "cannot recommend any other Microsoft laptops or tablets".

Chantelle was Jemma was previously attached at the hip - enjoying nights out where they held hands and engaged in saucy smooches. Addressing Sarah's emotional episodes, Kimberly also expressed her worries for the singer's welfare in the house.

For its part, Microsoft does refute the findings, not that we would expect them to say anything different, and says that their return and support rates differ from the findings in the Consumer Report Survey. As you might imagine, Microsoft is already responding against these findings, stating that the company does not believe that the study "accurately reflects Surface owners' true experiences". The last time Consumer Reports removed a recommendation for laptops was in 2015, when it turned a thumbs up into a thumbs down for three HP and one Lenovo laptop for reliability reasons, a spokesperson for Consumer Reports told The Register.

When Microsoft held an event past year, everybody thought that they were going to announce the Microsoft Surface Smartphone but that did not happen. In Consumer Reports' lab testing, the Surface series regularly earned high marks thanks to its performance and specifications.

The case is created to meet U.S. Military drop-test standards, a goal that UAG prefers for most of its products.

I'm still waiting on the original report from Consumer Reports.

The publication said "a number of Microsoft products" have performed well in its lab tests but noted predicted reliability is also important to consumers.
