According to the Pocahontas Times in West Virginia, police believe Newsome had just crossed into the state when she struck a guardrail Sunday morning.

A couple traveling down the same highway told police they saw Newsome take the body from her vehicle and begin dragging it over a hill.

There is no confirmation on a cause of death, but foul play is suspected and more arrests could be forthcoming in Florida, police said. The child's body was found near a wrecked vehicle in West Virginia on Sunday, according to The Pocahontas Times. The woman said the child did not move, eat, drink, speak or use the restroom for two days as they drove from Jacksonville to the scene of the accident.

Kaye-lea's father, Donath Plummer, lives in Buffalo. He said he hadn't seen them since Newsome moved with Kaye-lea to Jacksonville in 2014, but he would check on his daughter regularly by phone. West Virginia State Police Sgt. Later that day, she texted him again saying they were having vehicle troubles and needed to rest, he told News 4 Jax. On Sunday, police came to his workplace Sunday to tell him his daughter was dead and estranged wife was in jail.

"She knew she had vehicle issues and didn't want to be driving at interstate speeds", Barlow said. "She needs help. She really needs help".
