New York Knicks hire former Bucks VP of player development Craig Robinson

Knicks hire brother of Michelle Obama to oversee player development

The Vertical was the first to report the hire of Robinson, 55, Monday and the New York Times confirmed the hiring through a source.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Knicks have hired Craig Robinson to a position that will be centered around player development.

He is expected to serve in a variety of capacities, including player development and as part of the group running the Westchester Knicks of the National Basketball Association G-League, whose general manager is Allan Houston.

Here's what Robinson is expected to do with the Knicks. He was a vice president with the Milwaukee Bucks a year ago season.

Robinson is the brother of former First Lady Michelle Obama and, of course, the brother-in-law of former President Barack Obama.

This NFL player's retirement is brought to you by Kingsford charcoal
In the fourth game of the 2013 season, in Atlanta, Wilfork suffered the only major injury of his career, a ruptured Achilles. Perennial Pro Bowl nose tackle Vince Wilfork did not have to be dragged over hot coals to make him walk away from the game.

He joins general manager Scott Perry and assistant general manager Gerald Madkins in the new-look Knicks front office.

That combination of coaching and front office experience is consistent with what NY has been searching for this offseason.

Robinson and Mills were teammates at Princeton, where they played for the legendary Pete Carril. He was hired on for that role in 2015 and was previously a college head coach for Oregon State and Brown University.

Phil Jackson was dismissed at the end of June while Steve Mills took over as team president.
