McMaster Fires Top Intelligence Official From National Security Council

Trump Holds Cabinet Meeting With New Chief of Staff

The senior director for intelligence on the National Security Council, Ezra Cohen-Watnick, has been removed from his post, the White House said Wednesday.

Trump national security adviser H.R. McMaster informed Rice in late April that she will be allowed to maintain her clearance, even as she faces allegations that she improperly "unmasked" Trump campaign officials named in secret intelligence reports, according to a letter obtained by Circa. White House officials have said the president has yet to decide on any new moves.

"Gen. McMaster is confident that Ezra will make many further significant contributions to national security in another position in the administration", the official continued.

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster has, in the past, attempted to rid the council of Cohen-Watnick, but was overruled by President Trump, Steve Bannon, and Jared Kushner. Harvey, also among Trump's top advisers, was the first director at the think tank, Afghanistan-Pakistan Center of Excellence at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

Apple (AAPL) Q3 iPhone Sales Up 2%, 41 Million Units Sold
Apple told investors that it expects to see somewhere between $49 billion and $52 billion in revenue next quarter. During the same quarter past year , Apple was able to sell some 9.95 million iPads.

These personnel changes come amid an Atlantic report that an NSC staffer was sacked last month after a troubling memo he wrote arguing that "globalists", Islamists, and the "deep state" are working to undermine President Trump's agenda, and threatening the country. On Wednesday, radio host Laura Ingraham tweeted a months-old article from the New York Times about McMaster's "break with the administration on Islam". He was one of two White House officials who gave Nunes documents that suggested members of Trump's transition were inadvertently swept up in surveillance operations.

The paragraph above also says Cohen-Watnick was "conducting the review".

Higgins was forced out after writing a memo arguing that Trump was being subverted by an array of foreign and domestic enemies, including globalists, bankers, officials of the "deep state", Islamists and those questioning interactions between Trump campaign officials and Russian Federation, according to a report in the Atlantic magazine. Because Trump is an anti-globalist. He announced his "emotional departure" after his dismissal in a statement, and said he was excited to get a "new opportunity" in the Trump administration. Harvey was perceived as too close to Bannon by some White House aides, and Secretary of Defense James Mattis had disagreed with Harvey at times. The three-star general has recently been ousting some of the more conspiratorial-minded holdovers from Mike Flynn's short tenure as national-security adviser. The president has publicly asked why the United States should still be in Afghanistan after almost 16 years.
