The Soyuz MS-05 launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to the International Space Station at 11:41 a.m. EDT Friday, July 28 (9:41 p.m.in Baikonur).

NASA TV is available online and through some cable providers.

Those flights included trips on all five space shuttles-Columbia, Challenger, Discover, Atlantis and Endeavor-and missions aboard the Russian Space Station Mir and the International Space Station.

The European Space Agency shared a video of the launch online. Talking about Bresnik, he had earlier spent 10 days in the space in 2009 when he was on a mission.

He shared his enthusiasm for space in a tweet shortly before launch.

A representative of CLAA confirmed both of those ships docked in Juneau on their normal schedules and without incident. The groups were whisked away in vehicles with dark-tinted windows that waited in a restricted area of the port.

They will join current ISS crew members Commander Fyodor Yurchkhin of Roscosmos and Flight Engineers Peggy Whitson and Jack Fischer of NASA.

The three new arrivals will participate in many research projects, including a phenomenon that is perhaps of special interest to the astronauts already in orbit: the "puffy face" appearance that astronauts have in microgravity.

The group will bring the ISS up to its full crew of six and will work on experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science, according to NASA.

The spacecraft will take a almost 6½ hours to reach the space station's Rassvet module.

NASA shared a video of the crew as they reached orbit.
