Refreshed Jaguar XJ range revealed, arriving in 2018

Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled its new performance saloon the £93710 XJR575 with a top speed of 186mph

As well as being quicker than the outgoing XJR, the new XJR575 comes with a new rear spoiler, side sills and tweaked front bumper that's said to feature lower air intakes with gloss black surrounds.

The entire range scores a larger 10-inch touchscreen - up from 8.8-inches - which can be used like a smartphone interface in regards to the ability to swipe and pinch to zoom. As predicted, it's the more powerful version of the XJ saloon, and it's dubbed the XJR575 - owing to the fact that it now develops 575PS (or, 567bhp).

In addition to that monster of a V8, the XJR575 also has an electronic active differential, and safety aids such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and driver condition monitoring.

20-inch alloy wheels, also in gloss-black, are fitted as standard, while red brake callipers add a racy final touch.

This powertrain allows it accelerate rom 0-60 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 186mph.

The 575 badging refers to what's under the hood, as the vehicle features a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that now delivers 575PS, which translates to 567bhp.

Jaguar hopes this will keep its biggest vehicle fresh in the face of new competition from the latestBMW 7 Series and upcoming Mercedes S-Class.

Apart from the more powerful XJR575, the updates to the 2018 XJ includes new technological features and interior design improvements.

The Jaguar XJR575 is only available in the short-wheelbase variant. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar sedan.

We're currently waiting on word for local pricing, spec and availability, but the XJ575 is available to order now in the United Kingdom, from £93,710 (NZ$164,030).
