Iranian cancer researcher detained at Logan

Boston Children's Hospital, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School, said in a statement it had "limited information" about Dehnavi's detention and that it is committed to supporting him and his family.

The detentions were apparently unrelated to President Donald Trump's executive order temporarily banning travelers from six majority-Muslim countries, according to Boston Children's Hospital and immigration law specialists, who said Dehnavi had a valid entry visa.

"He and his family are being detained at Logan [and] are supposed to be sent back to Iran later today", the hospital said in a statement to the Boston Globe.

The ACLU of MA said that it is aware of reports from Logan Airport about "possible violations of the Supreme Court's order on the Muslim ban".

The stop, customs spokesperson Stephanie Malin said, was based on information discovered during the agency's review.

She noted that visa applicants "bear the burden of proof to establish that they are clearly eligible to enter the United States" and can be denied entry for a number of reasons, including health-related grounds, criminality and security reasons.

The ban places a 90-day ban on foreigners traveling from Iran, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen and a 120-day ban on refugees entering America.

Apple iPhone 8 might have issues with wireless charging, 3D face recognition
Apple engineers are starting to "panic" over the possibility of delaying the iPhone 8 after having trouble fixing various issues. But Business Insider understands it's more likely that Apple won't ship the charging station until it solves the software issue.

Advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Iranian American Council, have suggested that the Dehnavi family's detention may be in violation of the Supreme Court order.

"The family is very anxious", said Shayan Modarres, a lawyer for the D.C. -based council, which has been in contact with the family. Airport officials told him that the family would have to complete more paperwork before going forward.

Correction: Due to editing errors, an earlier version of this story incorrectly identified Susan Church as chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association of New England. Iran is one of the countries on that list.

The ban allows only individuals from the six countries with a "credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States" to travel to the US.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump had called for a "complete and total shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States, a move he said was necessary to protect national security in the wake of attacks at home and overseas by Islamist extremists.
