Pakistan probe panel puts Sharif, family in the dock

Ishaq Dar premier's 'frontman': Imran

The probe being conducted by JIT is in connection with the alleged offshore assets of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's family, as was revealed in the Panama Papers leak. "We will unveil the contradictions of this report in front of the Supreme Court", he said. Likewise, 2,547 personnel from the aforementioned departments were deployed at judicial academy and in its vicinities when Prime Minister's daughter Maryam Nawaz showed up at judicial academy on July 5.

The Federal Investigation Agency had informed the court over the weekend that its inquiry had found Hijazi guilty of tampering records of SECP's probe into the Chaudhry Sugar Mills, owned by the Sharif family. He said they will present their objections before the Supreme Court on the JIT report.

Sharif's close aide and minister for development Iqbal later said, "If you review this report, it has no logical argument neither it quoted authentic sources nor material, but is based on things that have no authenticity before the law".

Addressing a press conference here in Chairman secretariat, he said that decision of not accepting the JIT investigation is U-turn of the Pakistan Muslim League N. "This report is a political statement which reads like an Imran Nama", he said, adding that the report "lacks substance".

According to local media, the JIT has observed major disparities in the finances of the Sharif family and their known and declared sources of income and has recommended action under NAB Ordinance 1999.

Coach Cal's Team USA Squad takes on Canada in semifinals
Kibab and Brampton ON's Danilo Djuricic each hauled in 10 rebounds, helping Canada to a 71-46 rebounding edge. Team USA hadn't been tested at all leading up to Saturday. "I think everybody had chills", said Rana.

Ahsan said the party's lawyers are analysing the report from all perspectives.

The opposition seized on the allegations, however, with cricket legend-turned-opposition leader Imran Khan calling on Sharif to "immediately step down". He is the sole defense witness in the money laundering case against the Sharif family.

The JIT panel interrogated seven members of the Sharif family, including the Pakistan PM. From day one this was also the demand of PTI, the petitioner in Panama Papers case, that proceedings of the JIT be kept open.

The JIT report may not be as damaging for the ruling family as they are anticipating. "He should go away and should be barred from leaving the country along with other family members", he said.
