Russian Federation ends military coordination with United States over downed Syrian plane

US downs Syrian warplane after it bombs allies fighting Islamic State

The U.S. relies on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to reclaim territory from ISIS. This was the first time that the USA has itself engaged in air-to-air conflict with Syrian aircraft since it joined the fight against the Islamic State in 2014.

Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Washington is working to re-establish communications aimed at avoiding mishaps involving USA and Russian air operations in Syria.

The developments added to already-soaring regional tensions and reflect the intensifying rivalry among the major players in Syria's civil war that could spiral out of control just as the fight against the Islamic State group in its stronghold of Raqqa is gaining ground.

The Syrian government said the truce was part of national reconciliation efforts.

"The coalition's mission is to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria".

The government announced the deployment Monday, saying a KDC-10 refueling plane left the Eindhoven military air base in the southern Netherlands for Kuwait, where it will be based along with a 40-strong support crew.

Moscow said it would now track US-led coalition planes in Syria and treat all jets and drones west of the Euphrates River as targets starting on Monday.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that it "terminates cooperation with the US side within the framework of the Memorandum on Incident Prevention and Aviation Safety in operations in Syria from June 19, and demands a thorough investigation by the USA command (into the downing)".

The organization's primary focus was on the baby foods because of how detrimental lead can be to child development. Children are consuming more lead than is healthy, a new study by an environmental watchdog warns.

The Combined Joint Task Force on June 18 said the USA jet shot down the Syrian fighter "in accordance with rules of engagement" and "collective self-defense".

Russian Federation has been a staunch supporter of Syria's beleaguered President Bashar Assad and has been providing an air cover for his offensive against IS since 2015.

19 de junio de 2017, 09:17Moscow, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) has suspended as of today the memorandum of cooperation with the United States to avoid air incidents in Syria and warned of the monitoring of worldwide coalition apparatus.

"As of June 19 this year, the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation has ended its interaction with the U.S. side under a memorandum for preventing incidents and providing for safe flights during operations in Syria and demands that the USA command carry out a careful investigation and report about its results and the measures taken", the statement reads.

The shoot-down took place near the Syrian town of Ja'Din, located south of Tabqa dam, the coalition's main logistics and air support hub for the ongoing assault to drive the terror group known as ISIS or ISIL from their self-styled capital of Raqqa, says a Pentagon statement.

Despite the Russian statement, General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in Washington that officials are trying to re-establish their link to prevent potentially deadly accidents and that the de-confliction efforts have worked well in the past.

Since it began recruiting, training and advising what it calls moderate Syrian opposition forces to fight IS, the United States has said it would protect them from potential Syrian Government retribution.

Russian Federation has been a staunch supporter of Syria's beleaguered President Bashar Assad and has been providing an air cover for this offensive since 2015.
