Cosby judge could revisit issue of revealing names of jurors

Accuser was less consistent with the accused’ Cosby attorney

Lawyers for Cosby, 79, have said throughout that their client is innocent of all accusations. Until and unless the jurors speak, we won't know if just one or two of them declined to convict or if there was more widespread disagreement.

As for criminal charges, Bloom said a retrial typically favours the prosecution because in a second trial, attorneys for the accusers have already seen the legal strategy by the defence.

"As I said before, on and on, in the deposition about the carrying-ons that he was involved in the 70s".

The trial marks a steep fall from grace for an entertainer known for his role as a lovable father and obstetrician on the hit TV series "The Cosby Show". "It's not the end", she said.

Steele admitted he was "disappointed" but said his team would review their case and make tweaks.

"We're talking about all the man's tomorrows", said McMonagle, urging acquittal of an icon in the twilight of life.

Constand returned to her parents' home in Canada three months later.

"They're conflicted about the inconsistencies in Ms. Constand's testimony", he told reporters on Thursday.

Cosby's defense against Andrea Constand's allegation that he drugged and raped her in 2004 was that they had consensual sex. He described their previous encounters as "social and romantic".

Following the decision, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele insisted that he would "move this case forward as soon as possible".

Constand herself sued Cosby in 2005 and settled for an undisclosed sum.

The final ruling resulted after district attorneys struggled to obtain 13 different witnesses having the ability to testify against Cosby.

Brinkman was charged Tuesday with the murders of 71-year-old Rogell Eugene John and 64-year-old Roberta Ray John. Taylor Pifer was a fashion design student at Kent State, and Kylie was a biology student at Bowling Green State.

All the while, Cosby maintained his innocence through his lawyers, who called the accusers liars and opportunists.

NPR host Scott Simon filled the airtime by saying Cosby was just "shaking his head no".

It was the only criminal case to arise from allegations from more than 60 women that cast Cosby as a serial predator who gave drugs to women before violating them.

Tamara Green, the next woman to publicly accuse Cosby after Constand, filed a defamation suit. With the help of attorney Gloria Allred, they compelled Cosby's wife, Camille Cosby, to sit for a deposition. Some of these people grew up watching Bill Cosby.

Constand, now 44, initially went to police about a year after she said Cosby assaulted her, but a prosecutor declared her case too weak to bring charges.

The records were made public in July 2015, after The Associated Press went to court to compel their release.

"The key to retrying a case is to do it differently the second time, because the defense expects you to do it the same way", said Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani. "Overtly and arrogantly collaborating with the district attorney". Judge Steven O'Neill could revisit the issue as early as Monday. If the panel can't break the deadlock, the judge could declare a hung jury and a mistrial. Instead, Cosby emerged from the courthouse with his publicity team, which read a statement from his wife that accused the judge likely to retry him of arrogance and collusion with prosecutors.

After six days and 52 hours of deliberation, the seven men and five women selected to serve on the Pennsylvania jury were unable to render a unanimous verdict on any of the three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault with which Cosby had been charged. The charge also could include taking away a person's ability to refuse penetration by holding them down or drugging them or carrying out a sex act when the person is unconscious.

Cosby is one lucky guy. Jurors were bused to Norristown from Allegheny County, near Pittsburgh, and were sequestered in a hotel. But on Saturday, moments after the mistrial was declared, he gave an inkling of his confidence level going into Round 2. They spent the duration of the trial sequestered after being chosen from Allegheny County, almost 300 miles away.

In the meantime, pending federal and state lawsuits could lead to monetary awards against Cosby.

"I would say we would have voted to convict", he said.

He also said he knew he would face public scrutiny regardless of how the trial ended.
