Trump Campaign to Lift 'Blacklist' of Media Outlets

Donald Trump Ending 'Media Blacklist'

"I figure they can't treat me any worse", Trump, a NY businessman, told CNN in a statement declaring the ban over.

Previously, Trump had prohibited reporters from The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, Politico, and The Washington Post from covering campaign events.

"Access to a major party's presidential campaign events shouldn't be a favor to be granted or withheld to the independent media depending on how the candidate views the coverage, and we are glad the Trump campaign has made a decision to take this step", Politico editor Susan Glasser said in a statement.

After spending most of the summer refusing press credentials to major publications like the Washington Post and Politico, the Trump campaign has announced that it will finally start letting reporters from blacklisted publications do their jobs again, CNN Money reports.

Last month, he threatened to add The New York Times to the list, but did not follow through, according to CNN.

CNN noted that some journalists viewed the blacklist as irksome, while others viewed it as "a badge of honor".

Trump is running against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the November 8 presidential election.

Despite the ban, most reporters have still been able to perform their jobs, simply without the access that comes with a press credential.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Trump told the cable news outlet of the move.

Trump said in June, however, that he wouldn't take similar measures against the media if he were elected.

Trump has, however, scaled back the number of interviews he grants to TV networks other than Fox News in recent weeks, suggesting there are limits to his new press openness.
