Stanford Shopping Center security robot runs over toddler Harwin Cheng

Harwin was left with a sore head and swollen right foot as well as bruises on his right leg

They said the machine is risky and fear another child will get hurt.

The hefty machine rolled over the toddler's right foot and scraped little Harwin's left leg.

San Jose resident Tiffany Teng said she was walking with her husband and their 16-month-old son, Harwin Cheng, when the robot collided with the child, knocking him face down on the ground.

A security robot went haywire after encountering a 1-year-old child, running over the boy at a California mall.

Berdych barrage seals Wimbledon semi-final berth
Fourth seed and Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber takes on fifth seed Simona Halep in the pick of today's ties. Only one thing seems certain, he surely will not have to play in front of any more empty seats on Centre Court again.

"The robot hit my son's head and he fell down facing down on the floor and the robot did not stop and it kept moving forward", the boy's mother said. "He was crying like insane and he never cries". The robot, which was introduced at the shopping center in 2015, was created to alert authorities of abnormal noises, sudden environmental changes, and known criminals.

Still, Teng, a regular at the upscale shopping center, was rattled enough by the incident to be wary of returning and said she had heard of a similar prior incident.

The Knightscope K5 robot security guards are 5ft tall robots that come with Global Positioning System, lasers, and heat-detecting technology.

The shopping center did not comment on Teng's mention of a previous robot incident, and declined to say how many robots the Center operates. But the fact that Harwin's parents said it didn't detect him was something disconcerting. Maybe it stopped detecting or it could be buggy or something, ' Ankur Sharma said. Maybe its evolved, anti-human self-awareness is causing it to root out the future successors of our planet (K5 apparently hurt another child just days before). They hope by sharing their story, other parents will be careful the next time they're at Stanford Shopping Center.
