Chief Brown says use of robot 'not an ethical dilemma'

Police arrested 102 people in Baton Rouge on Saturday night and Sunday morning, mostly for misdemeanors for not leaving a major thoroughfare known as Airline Highway.

Eleven police officers fired their weapons and two officers used explosive devices trying to stop an Army veteran's deadly shooting rampage during a protest in Dallas last week, Police Chief David Brown said Monday.

But most of the demonstrations haven't been as tense as the scene in Dallas that night or the highway standoff in St. Paul.

Mourners left flags, candles, flowers, balloons and messages of support outside the city's police headquarters. "And at a time like this, it's our administration standing today with the police department, with the law enforcement community across this country, to say we mourn the loss of five fearless heroes in Dallas, and we're going to keep working together at this".

Good Question: How Is Social Media Changing Law Enforcement?

Prominent Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson was among those arrested.

Johnson told the officer he was "waiting for his dad to arrive" and pick up his brother.

Brown also updated the number of police officers wounded in Thursday's sniper attack - which took place at the end of a peaceful protest over the fatal police shootings of two black men elsewhere in the United States - from seven to nine. Shunkecia Lewis called it the most peaceful protest she's ever attended, until gunshots from a sniper sent crowds scattering.

Mourners and protesters demanded justice in the case, distraught over the death of the 37-year-old "CD man" known for selling music and videos in the store parking lot where he died.

The Amazon Tap (The More Secure Echo) Is Cheaper Than Ever Today
Amazon tweeted to announce it was looking into the issue, and about two hours later said it had been resolved. Just on the eve of Amazon .com, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AMZN) Prime day, competing retailer Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

"I'm a nobody. And I felt by the police doing what they did, the only way to get my word justified... was to post the video", she said. Even in Dallas before the shooting, officers mingled and posed for photos with people at the demonstration. Reynolds said that her daughter has been having "God dreams", in which Castile speaks to her. "I believe that he's living through her", Reynolds said of both Castile and her daughter.

Around 200 protesters rallied outside the St. Anthony Police Department Sunday afternoon, demanding fair policing.

"I think they're going to have to be much more aware of their surroundings".

Protesters in Baton Rouge gathered at a convenience store, the city's police department and the state capitol, resulting in 102 being arrested. "I just wanted people to know that these incidents do happen and we don't bring them on ourselves".

When asked about Johnson, a man who answered the door said, "He trained two years ago...." Authorities finally cleared the encampment with dump trucks, arresting eight people during the eviction.

Facing accusations that his sympathy for the Black Lives Matter movement has encouraged attacks on police, Mr. Obama issued an appeal from Spain for protesters in the refrain from violence.

Military technology expert and author of "Wired for War" Peter Singer told Gizmodo this was the first real instance wherein police used a lethal tactical robot to kill a criminal suspect.

Associated Press writers Amanda Myers in Los Angeles, Nomaan Merchant and Jonathan Poet in Dallas, Sadie Gurman in Minneapolis and Todd Richmond in Madison, Wisconsin, contributed to this report.

This story has been corrected to reflect that 21 officers in total were injured in Minnesota.
